What custom upholstery covers

Custom work is anything we make to your measurements rather than to a piece that already exists: window-seat and bay-window cushions, bench and banquette cushions, replacement seat cushions for sofas and chairs, ottoman tops and decorative pillows in the fabric you choose. If you have a nook, a built-in or a piece of furniture that needs a cushion that was never made for it, this is the service to ask about. Measuring and patterning

Measurements decide whether a custom cushion fits. For a window seat or bench we want the length, depth and height of the space, whether the corners are square, and the thickness you would like. You can send measurements with photos through the quote form, or bring the piece to the studio showroom in Greenacres so we can measure it with you. We make a pattern from those measurements, cut the foam and fabric to it, and sew the cover with the seams, piping and closures planned before anything is cut.

Fabric, foam and design choices

You choose the fabric, the pattern direction, the welting or piping, any buttons or tufting, and how thick the cushion should be. We help with the trade-offs: how a pattern repeats across a long cushion, how a light fabric wears in a family room, and which foam density suits a seat you sit on every day versus a pillow that is mostly decorative. Fabric samples can be seen in person at the studio showroom. If you supply your own fabric, we quote the handling and labor separately.

Examples from our studio

The bay-window bench cushions and floral pillows at the top of this page were made to the exact length of the window seat. The blue-and-white appliqué pillows and the tufted cushion sets below were sewn in our workshop in fabrics chosen by the customers, and the animal-print ottoman was covered to match the room it lives in.
